Professional Development

The Alton High School leadership team in collaboration with ACUSD will provide all staff with opportunities for professional development.  Staff members are expected to be active participants on our Professional Learning Community teams and are encouraged to integrate the instructional changes that develop as a result of that work.  The AHS leadership team will

• Provide opportunities for professional development and collegial interaction to promote innovative and engaging teaching strategies through Professional Learning Community teams

• Offer professional development activities which are aligned with our school improvement goals

• Utilize the expertise of our staff members to enhance professional development

• Model the importance of lifelong learning by actively participating in professional development opportunities

• Improve teacher training through mentoring programs, workshops and sharing of new and improved research-based teaching techniques

• Provide staff training during convenient and accessible times during or after the school day or during the summer break

• Recruit and retain employees with exceptional expertise
