BINGO! A Great Way To Practice

Bingo is a great way to let kids have a little fun while practicing and reinforcing our curriculum. In this class you will learn how to make your own template for BINGO games that you can use over and over again. We will cover the following Word skills all while making a great game for you to use with your students!

Animoto for the Classroom- #1

Animoto provides an array of tools for creating videos in your classroom. Educators can apply for a free Animoto Plus account for use in the classroom. Its powerful features can be used to create stunning presentations incorporating images, video clips, music and text.

 Learn to create engaging presentation with photos, clip art, music, and text. It can be done with a free subscription to Animoto. Once you have learned you can teach your students to create short clips for class presentations.

 Bring any pictures or video files you might like to use.  PC's will be available or you can bring your own device.

Learning to Use Discovery Education

This class will show you how to create an account if you haven't yet, login and search / download for videos, pictures, audio clips.

WIN! WIN! WIN!
WIN! WIN! WIN! The WIN program helps students prepare for standardized testing. Students will practice answering questions set up in the format that they will experience when taking the PSAE. Categories include math, reading, listening, writing, applied technology, etc. Teachers will learn how to create classes and reports. There is also a section on Career and Job profiles.
Picture Format in Microsoft Word 2007 

 Come and learn how to put text in, on and around pictures. This is another tool in Microsoft Word that you may not have know exists. If there is time, there will be an overview of other features using Picture Format in Word.  You will need your OWN laptop that has MICROSOFT OFFICE installed on it. We will be using MICROSOFT WORD 2007 for the session. FYI: Ipad's do not have Microsoft Office installed on them and neither do some laptops automatically.

 

Using the Office Lanier to Scan and Email Documents

Learn how to use your office Lanier to Email and Scan Documents.

 

Creating Social Stories

Use Power Point to develop social stories to use with your students. Download photos to your U: drive or bring a flash drive with photos. Once your power points are created they can be used on the computer or printed out to create books.

 

Xtra Math

Learn how to use Xtra Math a website where your students can practice their basic math facts.  You will learn how to set up your class, access students' logins, and be able to generate reports as well as certificates.  Students can access this at home too! 


Easy Pics - Using Excel to Manipulate Pictures

 Frustrated with printing pictures then having to "crop" them by hand just so you can glue them to a form that they will inevitably fall off? This quick tutorial will go over how to use Excel to easily size and crop pictures to print or insert into documents.

  

Screen Captures and Saving Documents as PDF files or Jpegs

 In this course you will learn three helpful skills. First you will learn how to add text to clip art or image and make it into a jpeg file. Second you will learn how to capture parts of your screen to make visual direction sheets for your students when they use the computer. Lastly you will learn how to take a word document or excel document and convert it to a pdf for saving, posting on a webpage or emailing to someone.  

  

Riverbender Website/Blog Help

 We will be going over how to use blogs or the district's Riverbender website in class. We will be going over the use of a blog/website and how they can benefit in the class. You must have a Riverbender website for this course if you want to work on that.

 This course is for those staff members who have grasped the basic formating of their Riverbender webpage and are ready to learn more. We will be learning how to create tables, borders, background colors, embedding video and adding photo slideshows.

 

Help! I Have a Website Now What Do I Do?

Learn how to set up your Alton School District Riverbender webpage. You will learn how to insert pictures and text as well as insert links to webpages. Must have a website already set up and be familiar with Microsoft Word.

Edmodo is a free, secure social network for classroom use and teacher professional development. Collaborate with this tool to share content and ideas, and to access announcements and grades. Edmodo can be accessed online or through a portable device. Increase communication by using this tool with your students or with other fellow teachers.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Edmodo

In this course you will go beyond general posting.  You must have taken Edmodo for Beginners or have a knowledge of using Edmodo.  Learn how to post and submit assignments,
and create quizzes.

Introduction to Education City

This course will introduce you to Education City as a instructional tool and support for students. You will learn how to add a student to your class and quickly find specific games to support your classroom instruction and centers.

 

Education City 2

Learn how to set up "homework" on Education City for your students and target their specific needs. This can be used in class or at home by the students. Participants must have a basic understanding of Education City.

 

Burn Baby Burn

This course is a very basic course to teach you how to burn files, photos, videos, and folders to a CD/DVD. You will also learn how to copy a CD/DVD that does not have a copyright.

 

Microsoft Outlook...Everybody's Using It!

This course will show you how to use the Microsoft Outlook Program to access your email instead of using the web-based version. This program has so much to offer. Learn to create folders to keep emails organized. Learn to create distribution lists (list of email addresses for certain groups). In addition, you will learn to use multiple calendar functions such as creating appointments, meeting requests, and add tasks.

 

Quizlet

This course is an introductory lesson in using the online resource, "Quizlet". Quizlet is a free service which allows teachers to place important facts, terms, information into an online "flash card" format. Students can access Quizlet "decks" from home or school. In addition to the online component, Quizlet also offers the option of printing out paper flash cards for material support in the classroom.
