Olin House The OLIN House
While the Olin Building is not officially designated as a “House,” it does consist of art classes, a library, the DEPCO lab, the Alton Success Academy, an intensive services classroom, the campus mental health coordinator, the in-school suspension room, multi-purpose rooms for Physical Education and is the site of the campus office.  Due to the functionality of this building, students are always moving through the hallways.  It is a delight to see the positive socialization of the students at this level.  “Students stroll down the halls smiling and visiting with friends or sweaty and exhausted from PE classes.  I keep in tune with the mood of the student body by what I see in the Olin halls,” says David Schwartz, Principal of Alton Middle School, whose office is also located in the Olin.

Mississippi House The Mighty ‘Mississippi House’ Centers On Students
Each month, the Alton School District spotlights one of six “houses” at Alton Middle School.  “Houses” are smaller learning community strategies that partner a portion of a school’s students with 10 to 14 teachers for the instructional day.  “Houses” aid students by personalizing the learning environment and making a large campus feel like a very small school. This month’s spotlight is on the school’s Mississippi House.
