Reimagine Alton

Reimagine Alton: Our Story, Our Community, Our Future

The Alton School District is launching Reimagine Alton, a community-led effort to shape the future of our schools. This initiative invites families, staff, and community members to work together to address challenges, build on our strengths, and ensure every student, family and staff member feels a true sense of belonging in our schools.

At the heart of Reimagine Alton is the District Improvement Plan, which outlines a multi-year strategy to strengthen our schools by creating a culture of belonging that will enhance student achievement and create a better learning environment for all. Through Reimagine Alton, we will review and revise that plan, looking for ways to expand, improve, and innovate together.

Your voice matters!

Five community workshops will be held throughout the 2025–2026 school year, giving everyone a chance to learn, discuss and contribute. Feedback gathered through this process will guide district priorities for years to come and help shape how we invest in our students’ success.

    What is Reimagine Alton?

Reimagine Alton is a community engagement initiative that brings families, staff, and community members together to shape the future of the Alton School District.

At the heart of this effort is the District Improvement Plan, a multi-year strategy to strengthen student learning, support educators, and improve school culture. Through Reimagine Alton, the community will help review, update, and expand this plan to ensure it reflects local priorities and builds on the strengths of Alton schools.

    Who can participate?

Everyone in the Alton School District community is invited to join. Families, staff, neighbors, and residents are encouraged to attend workshops, learn more about the District Improvement Plan, and provide feedback to guide future updates.

Do I need to attend all community engagement workshops?

While attending every session is helpful, it is not required. Each workshop will focus on different topics, and the process is designed so participants can contribute at any point. In addition, a summary of significant discussions and themes will be shared to keep the community informed throughout the process.

    Why should I get involved?

Your voice matters. Reimagine Alton is about more than a plan—it’s about creating schools where every student, family, and staff member feels a sense of belonging.

Community input will directly inform a final report to the Board of Education and guide updates to the District Improvement Plan for the 2026–2027 school year and beyond.

    Who is leading Reimagine Alton?

Reimagine Alton is a community-driven effort supported by the Alton Board of Education. The initiative is spearheaded by a leadership team of parents, staff, and local residents committed to ensuring the plan reflects the perspectives of the entire community.

What can I expect at a Reimagine Alton Community Engagement Workshop?

Each workshop is designed to be interactive, informative and community-driven.

    Participants will:

    • Learn more about Alton schools and the District Improvement Plan.
    • Share ideas and feedback.
    • Help identify challenges and priorities that will shape student success for years to come.

The feedback gathered during these sessions will serve as the foundation for updates to the District Improvement Plan.

When and where are the Community Engagement Workshops?
